Action Read is a place of change and growth. Our services help learners prepare for upgrading, become more productive employees and more engaged citizens who give back to their communities. Lives change dramatically when people are able to read a set of instructions, fill out application forms, write a budget or read stories to a child.

Action Read believes that literacy is a cornerstone of a healthy and vibrant community. We are grateful to the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development and to the United Way of Guelph Wellington Dufferin for providing the funding framework by which Action Read is able to serve the community. Our mission is further brought to life through the commitment of individual donors, foundations, and corporations.

Ways to Donate

Cash, Cheque or Credit Card

Individuals, service clubs or foundations may contribute to our adult or family literacy programs, either as a one-time gift or as an ongoing donations. Donations can be made by cash or cheque, or electronically by clicking on the secure Canada Helps Donate Now link on our homepage.

Contribute to the Action Read Fund, held at the Guelph Community Foundation

To make a donation to this fund or to leave a legacy, please visit the Guelph Community Foundation’s website at www.guelphcf.ca, and click on the secure ‘Donate’ link. Anyone can make a donation, and gifts of any size – small or large – are gratefully accepted.

Other Options

Tribute Gift:

Honour someone you care for by making a donation on their behalf.  Great for birthdays, anniversaries, teachers – you name it! Action Read will send a card and message of thanks on your behalf.

Planned Gift:

A bequest is a wonderful legacy. It can help Action Read to plan for long-term success. A planned gift may be made directly to Action Read or through the Guelph Community Foundation.

Matching Gift:

Many companies will match charitable donations made by their employees.  Ask your Human Resources Department if they have a matching gift program and double your impact!

Corporate Sponsor:

As a corporation, you can become a sponsor of one of our programs or special events, or make an in-kind donation of equipment, supplies or services. Please contact Action Read for a sponsorship package.

In-Kind Gift:

In order to ensure that our centre has a positive learning environment, Action Read accepts donations of supplies, technology and some furniture.  Action Read keeps an up-to-date list of items needed.  A donation of anything on the list will truly make a difference in the quality of services we provide.

Gift certificates or any in-kind donation with original receipts will be issued Charitable Tax Receipts at face value. For other in-kind donations, charitable tax receipts are issued upon request at ‘fair market value’.
