Marta came to Action Read to prepare for her GED test. She was working with the City of Guelph, and had been offered full time employment, but only if she could get her high school equivalency in less than 4 months. The first time she wrote, Marta passed 3 out of 5 sections of the GED, but struggled with the writing and math. So she came to Action Read for help.

Marta was matched with Albert. They met twice a week to work on grammar and work out math problems. Albert suggested writing assignments, which Marta completed as homework and emailed to Albert. She also came to Academic Drop-In and Math Group for extra support.

Even though it was challenging, Marta continued to work hard and did not give up. She passed the test and got the job, where she is still employed!
